TRAVEL NOTES: BHUTAN

The tourists reached the border
Exhausted by the long rugged road across the mountains.
The householder laid out a hot supper for them all.
The full moon in the window, the white Himalayan peaks.

One of the tourists to another:
"It could be they don't yet know
That a man has been on the moon,"
He told the householder of the conquest.

The Bhutanese became thoughtful.
He showed no sign of surprise or wonder.

Wrinkling his brow, he answered mildly:
"And how many sherpas did it take
to carry their water all that way?"
